DENVER—September 26, 2014—Chelsea Gibbons, a Qualitative Director at iModerate, a leading qualitative research firm, has been awarded a Young Professionals Grant by the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA), a not-for-profit association of researchers who are involved in the design and implementation of qualitative research. QRCA awarded the grants to outstanding research professionals under the age of 35, each of whom are invited to attend the QRCA Annual Conference in New Orleans October 15-17 free of charge.

One of just 15 winners chosen from a pool of more than 100 applicants, Gibbons has been with iModerate for six years, beginning as a moderator and rising up the ranks of the company to the director level. Criteria for the award were that the applicants’ professional role must consist of designing, conducting and analyzing qualitative research, or be in training to conduct these activities. Each applicant was required to submit a personal statement on why they believe they qualify for the award.

“Chelsea truly embodies what it means to raise the bar on qualitative research” said Jen Drolet, iModerate’s Managing Partner. “She is continually looking for opportunities to think more broadly about research and to learn from others inside and outside the company – something she will be able to explore at next month’s QRC conference. We’re pleased to have her represent iModerate there.”

The QRCA’s goal is to promote excellence in the field of qualitative research by pooling members’ expertise to create a base. Its membership includes focus group moderators, ethnographers, consumer experience specialists, online qualitative professionals, social media experts, branding and strategy authorities and more. Our members develop inspired and innovative qualitative research approaches that make a real impact in the market research industry.

iModerate allowed us to not only connect with this hard-to-reach audience but to get a deeper understanding of their feelings on the subject of public service. iModerate promised at the outset to expand and clarify the quantitative findings in a way traditional online survey research has previously been unable to, and they delivered on this claim. As a result, we were able to expose the emotions shaping the perceptions of the class of 9/11.
